Adam Goodman, CFP®
Founder, Managing Partner
I've spent two decades in financial services, but my connection to this industry runs much deeper. My family entered this business in the early 1970s, and growing up around it shaped how I think about wealth, planning, and the responsibility that comes with managing what people have worked their entire lives to build.
That foundation led me to the University of Delaware and eventually to earning my Certified Financial Planner certification. But the real education has come from working directly with clients over the past 20 years, understanding not just their portfolios but the businesses they've built and the legacies they want to create.
I founded GMR Wealth Advisors because I saw a specific gap in the market. Business owners, particularly those running dental practices and law firms, needed someone who could handle both sides of their financial lives. They needed expertise in managing group retirement plans for their teams while also addressing their own high net worth planning needs. Most advisors do one or the other. I do both, acting as a financial director who looks at every aspect of your financial picture, not just investment returns.
What drives me is the daily work itself. I manage client portfolios directly, making the investment decisions that affect real people's futures. That responsibility keeps me sharp. But I also value being the person clients call when they need guidance that falls outside traditional portfolio management. Those conversations, where we're solving problems and thinking strategically about the bigger picture, are where the most meaningful work happens.
I grew up in South Orange, New Jersey, just outside New York City. Being that close to Manhattan taught me early to think beyond the immediate and consider the larger landscape. These days I'm based in Coconut Creek, Florida, where the year-round outdoor lifestyle fits my pace. When I'm not working with clients, I'm usually planning the next trip, watching baseball or football, or diving into whatever music catches my attention. I listen to everything.
The work excites me because it matters. Helping someone pursue their investment goals, structuring a retirement plan that actually serves a growing business, or mapping out a comprehensive financial strategy for a family are all tangible outcomes. That's what keeps me engaged after 20 years, and it's why I built this firm the way I did.
